It's a design classic! (and still used today by the Maritime Self Defence Forces)
It was abolished after the war but it was re-introduced by Defence Agency Notice No. 2 dated 28 January 1956.
Oh alright then! Still, I'm sure there might be some who wish it hadn't been reintroduced. But let's not get into that too deeply. I agree about the design classic element actually. Simple colours and nice clean design. It's pretty cool.
